Job Description

The Naples Central School district is seeking a dynamic and collaborative individual to fill the role of the Director of Pupil Personnel Services.  This position is a 12-month administrative position and the selected candidate will serve as a member of the NCS administrative team.  A full-time clerical staff member also supports the Director of PPS.  Responsibilities of the position include:

-  Oversight of student services including CSE, CPSE, 504, ENL, Migrant Students, Tutoring, Foster Students, and McKinney Vento

-  APPR lead evaluator for special education teachers, interventionists, related service providers, and special education support staff.

-  Facilitate placement of all CPSE and CSE students.

-  Collaborate with Ontario, Yates, Steuben, and Livingston Counties to support students.

-  Maintain open-communication with out-of-district placements.

-  Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.  Complete state and federal reporting requirements.

-  Oversee UPK and special education grants.

-  Provide staff and administrative training on new guidance related to student services.

Job Qualifications
  • SDL/SBL administrative certification is required. Experience as a special education teacher and or CSE chairperson experience is preferred.
  • A collaborative leader with a student-centered approach.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the area of special education & 504 law.
  • Broad understanding of the special education programming continuum.
  • A willingness to be visible, accessible, and approachable.  Connected to classrooms.
  • Strong skill sets in behavior management & creating respectful learning environments.
  • A strong communicator with the ability to forge connections/relationships with various stakeholders.
  • The ability to consider various perspectives, while ensuring the appropriate data and information is taken into consideration during the decision-making process.
  • An ability to assess, support, and adapt as needed district systems, processes, and programming in order to best meet the needs of students and staff.  Seeks to understand through asking excellent questions.
  • A willingness to provide professional development to staff members based on skill sets and district needs.
